This type of grit can be used up to 200 times and will be much cheaper per mē blasted as any other abrasive. Blasting time much shorter which means many more mē/hr. Of coarse the abrasive shall be recovered, cleaned from the old coating and dust which is possible in a very simple way. For example, let's assume you have a 12" diameter wheel that is operating at 3600 rpm. If you choose a point along the outside circumference of that wheel, it will make 3600 rpm (revolutions per minute). If the diameter of the wheel is 12", then the circumference of the wheel is 12" x 3.1414 (diameter x pi) or 37.7". Therefore, the point on the wheel travels 37.7" x 3,600 rpm (circumference x rpm) or 13,571 inches/minute (1,131 ft/min). Here is the formula: velocity (ft/min) = pi x diameter(inches) x rpm / 12 If you want the velocity in miles/hour then multiply your velocity answer (ft/min) by 0.0114 (60min/5,280ft) ... http://www.bestofblasting.com/bestofblasting/ForumBestOfBl.nsf/($all)/ECDF34EEA634F24FC12573F50040406E?OpenDocument http://www.bestofblasting.com/bestofblasting/ForumBestOfBl.nsf/($all)/ECDF34EEA634F24FC12573F50040406E?OpenDocument Wen, 20 Feb 2008 12:41:47 PM GMT RE: Wheelblast parts Charlie, I guess I'm not clear why you are building your own wheel blast machine unless you are loo ... http://www.bestofblasting.com/bestofblasting/ForumBestOfBl.nsf/($all)/C7830C03D546B380C12573EC0016E3EA?OpenDocument http://www.bestofblasting.com/bestofblasting/ForumBestOfBl.nsf/($all)/C7830C03D546B380C12573EC0016E3EA?OpenDocument Mon, 11 Feb 2008 05:10:01 AM GMT RE: Calculation of abrasive velocity - tubines The velocity of the abrasive as it leaves the wheel should be equivalent to the tip speed of the wh ... http://www.bestofblasting.com/bestofblasting/ForumBestOfBl.nsf/($all)/84510672B84C1012C12573EC00160910?OpenDocument http://www.bestofblasting.com/bestofblasting/ForumBestOfBl.nsf/($all)/84510672B84C1012C12573EC00160910?OpenDocument Mon, 11 Feb 2008 05:00:41 AM GMT RE: 0.1 to 0.3 mil profile It depends on your blast pressure, the volume of compressed air you are pushing through the nozzle, ... http://www.bestofblasting.com/bestofblasting/ForumBestOfBl.nsf/($all)/63E752167A1B3E5DC12573EC000DD8BD?OpenDocument http://www.bestofblasting.com/bestofblasting/ForumBestOfBl.nsf/($all)/63E752167A1B3E5DC12573EC000DD8BD?OpenDocument Mon, 11 Feb 2008 03:31:14 AM GMT RE: alloy wheels Glass beads, although expensive, will give you your best finish. Also the distance from the wheel to the blasted parts has a big influence on the hitting speed as well as the hitting angle. Special with such a fine abrasive all these points have a big influence. To give a better advice I like to see a picture of the equipment and know what parts are blasted.
